What is Follicular Unit Transplant?
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), or Strip Surgery, can be an alternative to MicroFUE. It is an out-patient surgical operation that takes hair from the back of the head and transplants it to areas of hair loss on the scalp.
How Much Does Follicular Unit Transplant Cost?
At New England Center for Hair Reconstruction, all of our procedure prices are calculated on a case by case basis. This allows us to customize all treatments to the patient’s needs and achieve the unique results they desire. We will calculate your personalized pricing during your consultation. During this time, we can also discuss your preferred payment option as well as our convenient financing through CareCredit® and Union Medical Credit. We strive to ensure our procedures are financially accessible for all of our patients and look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
How is Follicular Unit Transplant Performed?
This procedure is done by cutting a linear strip of tissue from the back of the head, carefully isolating individual hair follicular units, and then transplanting them to the desired recipient areas. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, so you can return home for the duration of your recovery time.
Am I a Good Candidate for Follicular Unit Transplant?
At NE Hair, we generally recommend ARTAS or MicroFUE, but in some cases FUT is preferred. FUT can also be used to correct surgeries done by other centers that resulted in visible scarring, also known as revision surgeries.
How Long is Recovery After Follicular Unit Transplant?
As with any procedure, the length of recovery time will vary, depending on a variety of factors, including the individual patient’s response. However, we can provide a more detailed estimation based on your specific case, during your consultation.
How Long Will My Follicular Unit Transplant Results Last?
Given the surgical nature of FUT, the goal is to create results that will last long term. That said, results will vary, depending on the individual. The best way to understand how FUT may benefit you is to schedule a consultation. This will provide us with an opportunity to understand your concerns and create a treatment plan that will help you move forward with confidence.
